Conceptual Project
Melodic Paradise is a music festival focused on showcasing alt/indie pop and R&B. Artists from around the world gather in Ottawa, Ontario, to share their love of music.
Celebrating Unique Sounds and Artists
This project aimed to create a distinctive look for a music festival that stands out from the crowd while promoting smaller artists with unique sounds. The festival's branding blends dreamy aesthetics with artistic flair, targeting social, free-spirited individuals aged 18-25, particularly those who appreciate alternative, indie, and R&B music. This approach sets it apart from the typical grungy aesthetic of the alternative scene, making it appealing to a broader youth audience.
Creating a Dreamy, Cohesive Festival Identity
The process began with researching various music festivals, particularly those in Ottawa, to understand common themes and trends. I envisioned a dream-like musical paradise where people could lose themselves in the music. After ideation, I chose vibrant gradients, structural fonts with flowing cursive elements, and a unique music note integrated into the type. The project came together quickly, though finding the right balance between colour and white space took time to achieve a cohesive and visually engaging brand.

Photography and Cohesion in Branding
My favourite aspect of this project is the editing of the photography, which brought the brand to life. The use of duotones and the brand's colours added fun, and visual interest—a new approach for me, as I usually focus on illustration. This project also taught me the importance of stepping back from a design and returning with fresh eyes. By simplifying and focusing on one colour, I was able to create a more cohesive and balanced final look while staying true to the brand.
